Irina Akimova – Art Class Instructor

So talented, creative and open hearten! Irina joined  our team to share her knowledge, creativity and love of children.
Talent is not what is taught, talent is something you’re born with and something without you can not live.
Graduated from Moscow Lomonosov Institute she worked as a math instructor at theStankin university in Moscow. Though Irina always enjoyed drawing and painting, for long time it was just a hobby for her and couldn’t imagine that it will become the main part of her life. Irina came to USA in 2001 and in 2003 she joined the Blacksburg Regional Art Association (BRAA).  Irina found her inspiration in the atmosphere of Blacksburg, in its architecture, and in the views of the surrounding mountains. In May 2006, Irina received an M.S. degree in Mathematics from Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University). The experience of being a science graduate student had an unexpected, though quite understandable in hindsight, effect of strengthening her desire to be a full-time artist.
Summer 2007 Irina moved to Atlanta and just a year later she started collaboration with the Upstairs Gallery in Roswell and U*Space Gallery, where many of her works are now featured. Since 2008 Irina is also a member of the Roswell Fine Arts Alliance (RFAA).
Irina participated in several group exhibitions,on one of which she received an award – a prize of spectator sympathies held four solo shows, and was accepted to several juried shows
As a self-taught artist Irina traveled along a path of the knowledge of Art, which gave her the experience and the desire to revive and to extend the classical system of education and help foster and develop creative personality in students.
Our school has become an ideal place for a combination of the artistic and pedagogical talents of Irina.
