Svetlana Kulikova Russian History Instructor
Svetlana Kulikova holds a PhD in mass communication and public affairs from Louisiana State University. She taught international communication and public relations courses in the Department of Communication at Georgia State University in 2008-2013. Her passion for history of Russia comes from childhood, when she was dreaming of becoming a historian and world-famous archeologist. As an experienced educator with 15 years of teaching undergraduate and graduate students in Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and the United States, Svetlana understands the importance of good and reliable sources and powerful visuals for teaching history. In her classes, students at Solo School learn history by watching documentaries, feature films, and even Soviet-time cartoons and together discuss to what extent various interpretations of historical fact and fiction can be trusted and useful for us today.
